The Great Loop and Map

Our "Great Loop" trip will begin for us on the West coast of Florida where we bought the Loop Boat.  Our trip will be east from Ft. Myers, across the Okachobee Waterway, then up the East Coast (wintered 2013 in Baltimore) mostly in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) up to New York, up the Hudson River around Albany, NY to the Erie Canal, west on the canals to Oswego, NY, (changed the plan to go north through Lake Champlain and include the Rideau Canal and back to Michigan to winter in Bay City 2014) It include a trip to the 1,000 Islands around Kingston and Montreal. Then into Lake Ontario, across the lake to Trenton, Ontario, through the Trent-Severn Waterway into Georgian Bay in Lake Huron. Next on to the North Channel, south into Lake Michigan to Chicago, down the Illinois River (wintered 2015 in Alton, IL), to the Mississippi River, south to the Ohio River, up the Ohio to Barklay Lake, then to Kentucky Lake, south on the Tennessee River (wintered Grand Harbor Marina in Luka, Miss. in 2016) then Tenn-Tom Canal south to Mobile, AL.  From there, east to around Carrabelle, across the Gulf toward Tarpon Springs, and then on down to cross our wake in Ft. Myers, Fl.   The trip will take us some 6500 miles and will take us at least two years to finish.  In the Fall of 2013, somewhere after the Chesapeake and before Georgian Bay, we will haul out for the winter and start again in the Spring of 2014 when the locks open and the ice disappears.
